Barba as dangerous as Slater: Furner
Canberra coach David Furner says Canterbury fullback Ben Barba is as dangerous as Test fullback Billy Slater.
Furner says lining up against Barba means the Raiders will need to play the Bulldogs down their end of the field at Canberra Stadium on Friday night.
"He's a very dangerous player," Furner told reporters on Tuesday.
"He's just shown that the move to fullback there, how potent he is with all the space he's got.
"We need to make sure we give him the same respect, if not more, than Slater."
Despite the warning about Barba, the Canberra coach emphasised that Canterbury has a good team across the park, including a strong forward pack.
"It's one of those games where we go into the game not being the biggest pack," Furner said.
The Raiders have named a largely unchanged line-up to take on the Bulldogs.
Matt Orford has again been left out of the side as he recovers a groin strain.
The Raiders broke an eight-match losing streak with an upset win over Melbourne on Saturday night with rookie Sam Williams replacing the injured Orford in the No.7 jersey.
Furner has stuck with the halves combination of Josh McCrone and Williams.
Nathan Massey will make his second NRL appearance at fullback in the absence of Josh Dugan, who'll be on State of Origin duty.
Second-rower Danny Galea suffered a hamstring strain in the win over the Storm, but is expected to play on Friday night.
Furner said the return of five-eighth Terry Campese from a knee injury in a few weeks it will present him with "a nice headache to have."
