Bird facing a one-match ban
Gold Coast star Greg Bird is facing a one-match suspension and could miss Friday's NRL clash with North Queensland after receiving a grade one striking charge.
Bird, who kicked the winning field goal for his side in their dramatic golden-point victory over Canberra on Saturday, was charged by the match review committee with striking Raiders halfback Matt Orford midway through the second half.
The 29-year-old has until midday Tuesday to decide whether to fight the charge at an NRL judiciary hearing.
