Panthers re-sign rising star Grant
Penrith have laid the foundations for life after Petero Civoniceva, inking a new deal for boom NRL prop Tim Grant.
Grant, who has started alongside Civoniceva in the front row all season, was one of Penrith's best this season before an ankle injury cruelled his season.
The 22-year-old who Civoniceva described as a "Kangaroo in waiting" has been given a four-year extension which will keep him at the foot of the mountains until the end of the 2014 NRL season.
Less than a week after losing star second-rower Frank Pritchard to the Bulldogs on a lucrative deal, Panthers chief executive Michael Leary was thrilled to announce Grant's re-signing.
"Tim is a very capable young prop who has shown a great sense of maturity," Leary said on Monday.
"I'm pleased that Tim has agreed to the four year extension as he plays a very important part in our go forward on the field.
"He has shown he is a quality player not only for the Panthers but also at representative level with his selection in the City Origin team earlier this year."
