Raiders tie up Picker till 2013
Canberra backrower Joe Picker shrugged off interest from Nathan Tinkler's Newcastle Knights on Thursday by re-signing with the Raiders until the end of 2013.
Picker, who debuted for the Raiders in 2007, said he didn't think twice about re-signing with Canberra, despite significant reported interest from the cashed-up Knights.
"I've always wanted to stay here in Canberra and if I can go on and finish my career with the club it would be a great thing," Picker said.
"We've started to build a strong team here in Canberra and everyone is keen to stay and have success as a team and although we've started slow this year were keen to improve in the weeks ahead."
Raiders chief executive Don Furner was pleased to have locked up another talented local junior.
"Joe is a great player and more importantly he's a Raiders junior, so were very happy to have him with us for two more seasons," Furner said.
"We're a development club and put a lot of time and effort into our local juniors, so when we can keep them in the region it's a great positive for us."
