Burt still hurting over penalty miss
Parramatta winger Luke Burt says he feels he is to blame for the Eels' heartbreaking 20-18 NRL loss to West Tigers on Sunday, after missing a routine penalty kick which would have sent the match into golden point.
Even though his team mates were quick to mention the amount of games the sharpshooter has won for them over the years, it hasn't eased the pain for Burt.
Parramatta's season is most likely over with their coach Daniel Anderson saying it will take a miracle for them to qualify for the top eight.
Fellow players have tried to console Burt by pointing out that a slow start to the match and a patchy season is why they are destined to miss the playoffs.
However, Burt revealed he can't stop replaying the moment over in his mind.
"They are a good bunch of blokes these boys, they are really supportive. It's hard to say it wasn't me, I had the opportunity at the end and it does hurt," Burt said.
"It was just one of those things. I actually thought I hit it okay and it just didn't go over, so that's part of the job I do, and I take pride in my kicking.
"It was just one of those things where it was shattering and it is hard to get over something like that, but I'm going to have to."
