Burt hopeful of catching Cronin
Parramatta veteran Luke Burt isn't ruling out the prospect of chasing down club legend Mick Cronin's individual points-scoring record.
Burt moved past 1,500 career points in his side's 24-18 NRL win over the Warriors at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday night.
The 29-year-old winger, who made his Eels debut in 1999, is still a long way off Cronin's mark of 1,974 points but could catch him should he continue playing beyond 2012.
Burt, who was playing his 221st match for the Eels, was instrumental in getting the new season off to a perfect start in scoring a tryscoring double and kicking four from five for a tally of 16 points.
His brace against the Warriors took him to 109 career tries - all with the Eels - and just one try behind Brett Kenny's club record.
"I'd certainly keep playing if I am playing well so I guess there is a chance," he said of catching 1980s star centre Cronin's record.
"I feel very honoured to have got that mark," Burt told AAP.
"I'm lucky I've been able to play for so long to reach it I guess. It isn't something I have thought about much.
"I said before the game that I'd just be happy to get the two points for the win but it was great to get both.
"Again it is something I would be very honoured to do if I do get to that mark but it isn't something I'll be thinking about much," the humble Burt said.
Cronin played in four premiership-winning teams throughout the 1980s for Parramatta, who he played 216 games for.
