Hannebery signs three-year deal
AFL Rising Star award favourite Dan Hannebery has been rewarded for a breakout 2010 season with a three-year contract extension with Sydney.
The new deal came two days after Hannebery, 19, racked up a game-high 38 possessions in Saturday's important win away to Fremantle.
With Richmond's Dustin Martin ineligible after being reported and taking an early guilty plea, Hannebery and Melbourne's Tom Scully are favoured to fight out the Rising Star award this year.
"It was a very easy decision to sign," said Hannebery, who has played 18 of 20 matches in his second season.
"The way the club is going, with fresh talent and new faces from the draft and trades, I know it's heading in a great direction.
"There's a really good opportunity to be part of a successful period at the club."
Hannebery was selected with pick No.30 in the 2008 national draft.
Even though he stayed in Melbourne in 2009 to finish his schooling at Xavier College, he played the last seven matches of the season in the seniors before relocating to Sydney.
