Fullback Gidley takes Knights' top gong
Fullback Kurt Gidley has been named NRL club Newcastle's player of the year.
Gidley, who finished top of the Knights' try-scoring and point-scoring lists this season, capped a big week after he was also named in Australia's 24-man Rugby League World Cup squad on Tuesday.
Newcastle's Leeds-bound skipper Danny Buderus won the club's players' player award, while former Parramatta back-rower Zeb Taia picked up the coaches' award.
Junior Sau won the Knights' rising star award.
