St Helens crush Quins in Challenge Cup
Samoan winger Francis Meli scored two tries as St Helens came from behind to beat Harlequins and book their place in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
The 31-year-old came to the Saints' rescue after they trailed at half-time, touching down twice within six minutes to inspire the visitors to a well-earned 30-10 win at The Stoop.
Harlequins had high hopes after Luke Gale and former Canberra Raider David Howell cancelled out Kieron Cunningham's opening score for St Helens and gave the hosts the lead.
But second-half tries from Leon Pryce and Ade Gardner and five goals from Kyle Eastmond proved enough to put St Helens into the draw for the last eight.
Meanwhile in the weekend's other fifth round ties, Super League leaders Wigan made light work of Championship outfit Widnes, running out 64-10 winners thanks to hat-tricks from Karl Pryce and Sam Tomkins.
Pryce completed the feat just a minute after the break while Tomkins took just 16 second-half minutes to notch his at the Stobart Stadium.
Tomkins' brother Joel also got in on the act with two tries, centre Martin Gleeson followed suit while Thomas Leuluai and Sean O'Loughlin bagged one each.
Former Parramatta Eel Mark Riddell came off the bench to kick six goals as Matthew Gardner's two tries for Widnes proved to be little more than a consolation.
Warrington continued their Challenge Cup defence in fine style as they ran in 12 tries to destroy last year's beaten finalists Huddersfield 60-4.
Tony Smith's men were unstoppable at the Galpharm Stadium with England centre Chris Bridge grabbing five tries and ex-Manly winger Chris Hicks scoring a hat-trick.
Ryan Atkins, Mickey Higham, Chris Riley and Richie Myler completed the scoring for the rampant Wolves while a solitary try from Martin Aspinwall was all the Giants had to show for their efforts.
Veteran forward Steve Menzies rolled back the years to score two tries in Bradford's convincing 58-16 victory over Leigh at Odsal.
The 36-year-old former Manly and Northern Eagles second-rower scored either side of the break while ex-St George centre Chris Nero also helped Bradford on their way to victory with a hat-trick.
Five tries from New Zealand fullback Brent Webb ensured Leeds Rhinos made no mistake against Blackpool as they cruised to a 70-22 win.
Off-season signing Brett Delaney, recruited from Gold Coast Titans, and Greg Eastwood also got their names on the scoresheet as the Rhinos notched 12 tries at Headingley.
Meanwhile a last-minute drop goal from Frenchman Thomas Bosc put Catalans Dragons into the quarter-finals as they edged past hosts Crusaders 35-34.
Ex-Sydney Rooster Setaimata Sa led the Dragons' charge with a hat-trick.
However, the Crusaders did not lie down, with former Canberra Raider Clinton Schifcofske and ex-Bulldog Frankie Winterstein among their scorers.
