O'Brien has report thrown out
Collingwood defender Harry O'Brien has no case to answer after the AFL match review panel threw out his charge of striking Essendon's Henry Slattery in Sunday's Anzac Day game at the MCG.
O'Brien was reported in the last quarter for making high contact on Slattery as the Bomber kicked the ball.
But the panel ruled on Monday O'Brien put his arms up in a protective position to defend himself given he was about to make contact, and although he got Slattery high, the contact did not constitute a strike.
No other players were reported in the first seven games of round five, but the panel will assess Monday's Carlton-Geelong game on Tuesday.
The panel also assessed the tackle Richmond's Luke McGuane laid on Fremantle's Michael Johnson at Subiaco Oval on Sunday night to assess whether it was dangerous, as McGuane left the ground while tackling, and took Johnson with him.
But the panel ruled the tackle was just the one action and "was not inherently dangerous".
