Lions secure Xavier Clarke from St Kilda
Brisbane have continued to be the most active club during the annual AFL trade period, with the Lions securing running utility Xavier Clarke from St Kilda in exchange for pick No.60.
Clarke is the fourth player picked up by the Lions this week, joining Amon Buchanan (Sydney), Brent Staker (West Coast) and Andrew Raines (Richmond).
And Brisbane are also set to pick up troubled full-forward Brendan Fevola from Carlton, if Daniel Bradshaw and Michael Rischitelli agree to head to the Blues in exchange.
Clarke, 26, did not play any senior football in 2009 after undergoing a knee reconstruction.
He was selected with pick No.5 in the 2001 national draft and played 105 senior games for the Saints.
"I've been offered a terrific opportunity at Brisbane and I'm really looking forward to further developing my career with the Lions," said Clarke.
"I'd also like to thank all those involved at St Kilda football club for their support over the years and for providing me with the opportunity to play AFL football."
Clarke's younger brother Raphael remains on St Kilda's list.
