Raiders unchanged for Titans clash
Canberra coach David Furner said halfback Josh McCrone had "done enough" in the Raiders' NRL win over Brisbane to earn another crack against Gold Coast on Saturday night.
McCrone scored two tries in the 22-14 win on Monday night after receiving a late call-up to replace original No.7 Marc Herbert, with debutant James Stuart also performing strongly on the wing to earn a second start against the Titans.
Furner's gamble in throwing the pair into the mix against the Broncos paid off as the Raiders registered their first win of the season, and with the short turnaround for the trip to the holiday strip, he saw no reason to change the winning formula.
McCrone, who had to watch on as Herbert held a mortgage on the halfback jumper for much of last year, showed a willingness to go to the line against the Broncos, with the 22-year-old's second try putting the visitors out of their misery in the dying stages.
Furner said McCrone's pace will be as crucial against the Titans as it proved against the Broncos.
"Like the rest of the team, he played his part in that win," Furner said.
"He's done enough."
Furner also backed Stuart over regular winger Reece Robinson, saying he'd made an impression and did enough in defence to earn another opportunity.
He's expected to be right for Saturday's match despite suffering cramp and a slight back injury against the Broncos.
