Weyman re-signs with Dragons
St George Illawarra have moved to shore up their engine room with NSW prop Michael Weyman re-signing with the NRL club for a further three years on Monday.
Weyman, who broke into the representative ranks last year, will remain in the red and white through to the end of the 2013 season.
Having lost Weyman's front row partner Justin Poore to Parramatta in the off-season, the Dragons moved quickly to hold onto the 25-year-old who began the 2010 season in scintillating fashion with 145 metres and 24 tackles in Friday night's 18-12 win over the Eels.
"It's another piece in the jigsaw of retaining players," Dragons coach Wayne Bennett said.
"We've been elated with the way Michael has played and extremely pleased he is sticking with us."
Weyman arrived at the Dragons in 2009 as fringe first grader, having struggled to establish himself at Canberra where he managed only 47 games in six seasons as injuries and disciplinary issues took their toll.
In his first year at St George Illawarra Weyman played 22 matches, plus the opening two matches of the State of Origin series before an ankle injury deprived him of the chance to play in the final game.
"I've loved every minute of being here and I'm really looking forward to spending the next three years here," Weyman said.
