I'm no king hitter, says Raiders' Weyman
Raiders prop Mick Weyman wants you to know he's no king hitter.
After days of bitter fall out following his brutal belting of Titans centre Michael Conn, Weyman said he was "remorseful for what happened".
"I'm not a king hitter," Weyman said.
"It's not the way I was raised.
"It's not in my nature."
A product of the NSW south coast, the 114kg Weyman has been in and out of the Raiders first grade side this season but impressed a fortnight ago against St George Illawarra.
After entering an early guilty plea to two charges emanating from the Titans match, he has six weeks on the sidelines to think about the punch that left Conn with a broken nose and a big black eye.
Weyman refused to react to comments by the Titans enforcer Luke Bailey that he was nothing more than a "cheap shot merchant".
"He has a brain-snap whenever he gets tired, which happens quite regularly," Bailey said earlier this week.
"He's only good for five to 10 minutes of the game. He always costs them (Canberra) more than he pleases them."
Weyman refused to buy into the verbal brawl.
"I'm not going to get into a slanging match," he said.
"What happens on the field stays on the field."
Copping the six-week ban had been tough, he admitted.
"It's probably been the hardest week of my football career.
"The support over the last few days ... has really helped me through."
