Inglis' All Stars hopes on the line
Melbourne's medical staff will put Greg Inglis' hip injury under the microscope to determine if he can play in next weekend's inaugural All Star clash on the Gold Coast.
The Queensland and Australian player's injury is threatening to derail his hopes of playing for the Indigenous All Stars against the NRL All Stars, a game he rates as important as an Origin or Test because he would be representing his people and his family.
But while Inglis is desperate to play, he won't if means risking playing a part in the Storm's premiership defence.
Melbourne's medical team will make a "clinical assessment" of his injury on Friday and pass on their thoughts to Indigenous coach Neil Henry.
Inglis has only trained for 30 minutes in the past 10 days following a late return to pre-season training.
Should Inglis be forced to withdraw, it would be a big blow to his Indigenous teammates ahead of Saturday week's sellout clash at Skilled Park.
