Inglis injured in hotel altercation
Melbourne Storm five-eighth Greg Inglis suffered slight injuries in an altercation outside a Brisbane hotel on Sunday night, the NRL club announced on Monday.
The star of the reigning NRL premiers is expected back at training on Tuesday.
The club said Inglis attempted to play the role of peacemaker in the incident outside the Normanby Hotel but the fact he was there angered Storm chief executive Brian Waldron.
"The Melbourne Storm is extremely disappointed Greg has been involved in this incident," said Waldron in a statement.
"We continue to remind all of our players to act in a socially responsible manner and to refrain from placing themselves in potential high risk situations.
"It is clear in this situation Greg has acted irresponsibly and outside the boundaries of what is expected from anyone associated with the Melbourne Storm.
"CCTV footage, in the hands of Queensland police, clearly shows Greg was not the instigator.
"However, he put himself in a situation he shouldn't have been in and that is why we are so disappointed."
Police confirmed no charges will be laid against Inglis who missed the Storm's trip to England as he recovers from shoulder surgery.
The NRL premiers will take on the Leeds Rhinos in the World Club Challenge on Friday England time.
