Carlton stars Houlihan, Walker fined
Carlton stars Ryan Houlihan and Andrew Walker have been fined and disciplined by the AFL club after a fight with hotel staff at Melbourne's Crown Casino.
News Limited had reported the players were arguing with a woman early on Sunday before a fight broke out between the teammates that ended up involving hotel staff.
A security guard also became involved before police arrived as the fight was brought under control.
Walker was then escorted off the property and Houlihan, who was staying at the casino, allowed to return to his room.
"This incident is unacceptable and a poor reflection on the Carlton Football Club," Blues CEO Greg Swann said in a statement on Tuesday.
"It is an even greater disappointment to have this type of behaviour at a time when we are making considerable improvements to the club on and off the field."
The statement said the players were disciplined by the club and fined the maximum penalty under the AFL/AFLPA code of conduct.
It went on to say: "Further sanctions will be considered when the players and coaches return from their annual leave in January."
A Crown spokesperson confirmed the two were now banned from the casino.
The incident came just three months after former Carlton player Brendan Fevola's alcohol-fuelled Brownlow Medal antics at the casino.
Fevola was subsequently traded to Brisbane.
