Neitz to be fined $5000
Melbourne captain David Neitz will be $5000 out of pocket following last week's embarrassing early-morning incident.
A club source confirmed an AFL website story that the full-forward had been fined "the maximum amount under the AFL players' association code of conduct".
Police drove the Coleman Medallist to his girlfriend's home after the 3am scuffle on June 17 at Melbourne's Crown Casino.
Neitz argued with a taxi driver and then was restrained by casino security staff.
It was a major embarrassment for the Demons, with Neitz voluntarily fronting the media later in the day to express his regret.
The club will dock the fine from Neitz's pay and is likely to donate half to a charity of his choice.
AFL chief executive Wayne Jackson publicly called on the club last week to make details of Neitz's punishment public.
