Four members of the French Barbarians invitational rugby union team contracted swine flu during a tour of Argentina, tour official Laurent Pardo revealed on Thursday.

The team doctor has also come down with the illness, while the other members of the touring party have been placed in isolation in their homes.

Toulouse back row forward Gregory Lamboley, Biarritz wing Jean-Baptiste Gobelet, newly signed Clermont prop Lionel Faure and Stade Francais centre Geoffroy Messina were the four players infected by the A(H1N1) virus during the tour, which finished on Saturday.

Philippe Izard, team doctor and also doctor for French Top 14 side Mountauban, has contracted the illness but Pardo told AFP there was "nothing alarming" about the health of the ill party members.

The other members of the tour delegation received preventative Tamiflu treatment upon their return to France and have been ordered to remain in their homes until Sunday as a precaution, said Pardo.

The French Barbarians lost 32-18 to Argentina in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
