Ablett out for 3 weeks with groin injury
Star Geelong midfielder Gary Ablett will miss up to three AFL matches after it was revealed he had a strained left adductor.
The Brownlow Medal favourite left the field midway through Sunday's win over Melbourne with groin soreness.
Coach Mark Thompson said after the match that Ablett was likely to be rested for Saturday's clash with Sydney, but he is now set to spend 2-3 weeks on the sidelines.
Ablett, 24, had been backed into short-priced favouritism for the Brownlow Medal after making a scintillating start to the 2009 season.
In other news, young defender Scott Simpson will be out of action for three months after breaking his right ankle playing for Geelong's VFL side on Saturday.
