Richmond find an ally in North Melbourne
Under-siege Richmond have found a sympathetic ally in North Melbourne ahead of their AFL clash on Saturday night.
North defender Daniel Pratt and former skipper Adam Simpson were the two experienced Kangaroos players fined $5,000 after admitting their involvement in the rubber chicken video stunt which became public earlier this month.
Pratt said the Kangaroos understood the situation at Punt Road after having the spotlight turned on their club in the preceding fortnight.
Richmond and coach Terry Wallace have been under mounting pressure this week after the Tigers lost to last year's wooden spooners Melbourne on Sunday to record their fourth straight defeat.
Pratt said he knew how the Richmond players would be feeling but stressed the mood could change quickly.
"It is easy for people to speculate and they are probably feeling it similar to what we were the week before," Pratt said.
The Roos brushed aside their off-field problems when they notched a 12-point win over Essendon last Sunday.
"It has been great the way that the boys have held together over the last two or three weeks," Pratt said.
"It was disappointing (to lose in round three) against Hawthorn after that week we had but it is testament to the character of everyone at the football club the way everyone went about it.
"It could have easily fallen apart.
"I couldn't ask for anything more with the support they've shown me and Simmo (Adam Simpson)."
He said North would try to put Richmond on the back foot from the opening bounce at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
"We're going to be trying to come out pretty hard this week," he said.
"For us, it's not about what they're thinking. It's about what we do and it's about our intent and the way we go about it.
"If we can win the contests on Saturday night, hopefully it will go well towards winning the game."
