O'Hern comes out swinging for Dockers
Australian golfer Nick O'Hern has predicted a far more efficient Dockers outfit this AFL season after becoming Fremantle's No.1 ticket holder for the 2009 campaign.
The Perth-born world No.126, who has twice beaten Tiger Woods in match play, has assumed his new role at the Dockers from former NBA player Luc Longley.
"I felt very honoured to have been given the opportunity," O'Hern said.
"I'm looking forward to becoming more involved with the club and assisting Fremantle in any way possible to have their best year to date.
"I'm excited about the year ahead.
"I think Fremantle have a great core group of players.
"There are some quality young guys coming through the ranks and Mark Harvey seems a good fit for the team.
"He is a hard-nosed coach who is willing to back his players fully and give his all for the club.
"I know they lost a few games down to the wire last season but that experience will put them in good stead to close out games better this year."
O'Hern said Dockers skipper Matthew Pavlich was his favourite player.
"I've always admired Matthew and the way he plays the game," he said.
"Obviously, he's hugely talented but that doesn't mean much if you don't have the work ethic, and he excels in that area.
"He plays a bit of golf, so I'd be keen to see if I can out-drive the big fella."
The Dockers, rated a $2.10 chance by TAB Sportsbet to make the finals, kick off their season against the Bulldogs at Subiaco Oval on March 29.
