US, Brit arrested for ticket touting
South African police say they have arrested one British and one American national for ticket touting at the World Cup.
Police on Friday said 38-year-old Karen Sorenson of Britain and Brendan Evans, who is 39, were arrested on Thursday by detectives at their hotel in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.
They are accused of illegally selling and distributing hospitality packages in contravention of South Africa's Trade Practices Act and the Unfair Business Practices Act, which deals with ticket sales and distribution.
Sorenson and Evans, who is a Zimbabwean-born US passport holder, appeared in a special World Cup court on Thursday evening and were each granted $US2,000 ($A2,370) bail each.
They are due to reappear in court on July 28.
