Ambitious Scots not here for holiday
The message is clear: the Scotland Bravehearts are not in Australia for a holiday.
Speaking at a government reception at Canberra Stadium for the Scotland and France teams, Bravehearts coach Steve McCormack warned his men were ready to deliver.
The function doubled as an official launch of rugby league's World Cup in Canberra with guests joined by politicians.
Scotland, who open up against France this weekend, received a very warm welcome when junior rugby league players formed a guard of honour for the team as they stepped of their bus.
"It has been quite a long journey for us. Many people didn't think we would get to this competition as Wales were very big, big favourites to qualify," McCormack said.
"To actually get here is a big achievement but we are not settling for that. We are not here for a holiday.
"It hasn't been hard to gel as a team. What Scotland does is prides itself on genuine people first. If you get the genuine people, the rest of it comes together.
"They can all play good football, they are all good people, they are prepared to work and the work ethic has been tremendous.
"We are all ready for a tough game against France. They are a very, good side with some outstanding players.
"In saying that, we are quietly confident ourselves. If we can perform like we know we can do, then we will shock a few people."
