Raiders' Thurling cops two-match NRL ban
Canberra backrower Trevor Thurling will miss two NRL matches after unsuccessfully challenging his grade one lifting charge at the NRL judiciary.
Thurling was reported for lifting in his side's win over Wests Tigers last Sunday.
He had little to lose by challenging the charge as he faced a two-game ban regardless of his plea.
It means he will miss the Raiders' upcoming clashes with Melbourne and New Zealand and he will be eligible to return against the Sydney Roosters in round nine.
Later on Wednesday night, Gold Coast five-eighth Mat Rogers will contest the severity of a grade two dangerous throw charge.
