Adamson tips big future for Weyman
Veteran Canberra recruit Matt Adamson has tipped a bright future for one of the NRL club's biggest men.
Michael Weyman, a strapping 108kg front rower from the NSW south coast town of Moruya, has been earmarked for big things by the Raiders.
Injury has thus far curtailed his career but Adamson has seen enough to predict the 20-year-old will become a force in the NRL.
"He reminds me a lot of Lazzo (former Canberra, NSW and Australian prop Glenn Lazarus)," Adamson said.
"He's got a big old build, it's hard to get a good shot on him, he's got great position going into the line and he's got great speed going into the line."
Weyman, a two-time Australian schoolboys representative, has only appeared in eight first grade games due to his persistent injury problems.
However, he's done enough in his embryonic career to indicate he could be a special player if he stays fit.
The Raiders are counting on it.
"There's a few young kids there - that was part of the reason I came back," Adamson said.
"Todd Carney is a bright prospect. There's another young kid called William Zillman."
