Jolly Rogers takes Tour of Germany
In-form Australian rider Michael Rogers won the Tour of Germany on Monday adding it to his victory in the Tour of Belgium a fortnight ago.
The 23-year-old finished in the peloton at the end of the seventh stage, the 173.2km ride from Bad Durkheim being taken in a mass sprint finish by Germany's Olympic track champion Olaf Pollack.
Rogers ended with a 1minute 19second advantage over Portugal's Jose Azevedo while Kazakhstan's Alexander Vinokourov was third, a further 33 seconds adrift.
The Kazakh's former Telekom team-mate, the 1997 Tour de France champion Jan Ullrich finished fifth overall in his first race for his new Bianchi outfit.
Pollack beat off star sprinters Erik Zabel of Germany and Australia's Stuart O'Grady to take the first ever stage for his Gerolsteiner team.
