Rogers willing to sit out season: report
Wallaby Mat Rogers is reportedly prepared to sit out the 2007 season if he is not released from his contract with the Australian Rugby Union.
Rogers had indicated to rugby officials that personal reasons were behind his desire to leave Sydney and link with NRL club Gold Coast a year early, the News Ltd report said.
Sitting out the final year of his ARU contract would cost the dual international around $500,000.
Rogers met NSW Waratahs coach Ewen McKenzie on Monday and was granted a week's holiday, reportedly to consider his future.
The report suggested the Waratahs were sympathetic to Rogers' plight but that the ARU would be wary of setting a precedent by releasing him.
Wallabies coach John Connolly has said Rogers is a part of his plans for the Rugby World Cup - which begins in France next September - despite the utility back expressing disappointment he did not have more opportunities to play five-eighth on the recent European tour.
Rogers has already agreed to a return to league with the Titans from 2008.
