Giteau out of Wales Test
The Wallabies may send attacking livewire Matt Giteau home early from their European tour after ruling him out of Saturday's Test against Wales.
Australian team management will decide in the next 24 hours whether Giteau will fly out of Cardiff after it was felt his knee injury might require surgery.
The 23-year-old inside back suffered damage to his knee joint when he came off the bench in the 26-16 loss to England at Twickenham nine days ago.
The decision to rule him out of the Millennium Stadium clash ends a frustrating tour for Giteau who arrived in Europe as the Wallabies first-choice flyhalf in the absence of Stephen Larkham.
But he paid the price for the tour-opening 26-16 loss to France and was dropped to the bench to make way for Mat Rogers.
Rogers appears in slight doubt for the Test against Wales after sustaining a painful cork above his right knee in the 30-14 win over Ireland on Saturday.
The former league star played 47 minutes with the problem despite coach Eddie Jones admitting afterwards that he should not have been on the field.
If Rogers cannot take his place against the Welsh, Jones will have no choice but to punt on 20-year-old rookie centre Lloyd Johansson at five-eighth.
Johansson, a hulking 110kg, has only played a total of five matches in the position for his club side, Gold Coast.
Jones is reasonably confident Rogers will line up on Saturday but he didn't train on Sunday.
