Evans guarded over Landis controversy
Australian cyclist Cadel Evans is guarded over Floyd Landis' doping controversy, describing it as something beyond his control.
Evans did not want to comment specifically on the Tour de France winner's positive doping test.
He pointed out Landis still awaits the result of his B sample.
But if the race eventually disqualifies Landis, Evans would improve from fifth to fourth overall - the best Australian finish in Tour history.
It was something Evans did not even want to think about when contacted in Switzerland.
In a post on his website, Evans said: "Unfortunately, there are still some issues surrounding the Tour.
"For me, I did the best I could at the Tour and I'm satisfied with that.
"What else goes on is beyond my control. Now I'm thinking about my next races and, of course, improving for next year's Tour."
Evans is having a short break before racing for his Belgian Davitamon-Lotto team next week at the Tour of Denmark.
"I'm tired, but happy and satisfied - I think the team is quite happy and I'm certainly happy with what I've done," he said.
"All things considered, I think I rode a good race (in the Tour)."
Evans equalled the two fifth placings by Australian legend Phil Anderson during the 1980s with his performance this month in the Tour.
