Lara confident of a one-day win

West Indian cricket captain Brian Lara said he was convinced Australia would not go through its Caribbean one-day series unbeaten despite extending its record-breaking winning streak.

Australia has won 20 consecutive matches and taken a 3-0 lead over the Windies in the seven-match series heading into this weekend's double header in Trinidad.

The tourists again proved their class on Thursday by defusing a promising Windies run chase in the 25-run victory in St Lucia.

The Windies have lost their last 10 one-day matches against Australia, forcing Lara to answer the same questions when called on first as the losing captain at the post-match presentations.

"We are playing against the world champions. It's nice to know that although it's 10 (wins) against us that it's also 20 in a row which means it includes a lot of other teams," Lara said.

"That takes a bit of weight off our situation. We've got four matches ahead of us.

"I honestly think that (Australian captain) Ricky Ponting will be speaking first after one of them."

The Windies last beat Australia more than four years ago although they did not play against Ponting's team at the World Cup earlier this year as Australia remained unbeaten.

"They've beaten every other Test-playing nation so we've got to concentrate on what we've got in front of us which is a series of seven matches," Lara said.

"Of course they've dominated at least two of the three matches so far and we have to find a way to turn things around.
