Waugh posts 30th Test century
Steve Waugh posted his 30th Test century as Australia took charge of the third Test against the West Indies in Bridgetown.
Waugh's 115 pushed him past Don Bradman (29) as Australia's greatest Test century-maker while the captain also became the second leading run-scorer in Tests.
Waugh later closed Australia's first innings at 9-605, leaving the Windies with 23 overs to face before stumps on the second day.
Waugh, Andrew Bichel (71) and Adam Gilchrist (65) continued Australia's batting domination of the series, again leaving the Windies with hopes only of survival.
Jermaine Lawson bowled Brett Lee (11) and Stuart MacGill (zero) with the final two balls of the innings but the wickets mattered little for a Windies team which must survive for almost 10 sessions to avoid trailing 3-0 in the series.
Waugh now has 10179 career runs, pushing him past Sunil Gavaskar (10122) and behind only former Australian captain Allan Border (11174).
During his innings, Waugh also became Australia's leading runscorer against the Windies and became the first Australian to record 1000 career runs in the Caribbean.
