Lara is ready, says Chanderpaul
His recent form might not suggest it, but Brian Lara is ready to tear Australia's bowlers apart again, West Indies captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul said.
The world record-holder is battling a run of outs, making five and 36 for the World XI against Australia at the SCG last month and one against Queensland last week at Allan Border Field.
And throughout he's been exhibiting the sort of footwork not out of place in a Sunday social match.
"I'm not worried about Brian too much," Chanderpaul said at the Gabba ahead of tomorrow's first Test.
"Brian's one of those guys who can come into his game at any time.
"It's up to him now. He can go there tomorrow and turn it on if he wants to.
"From my experience over the years, the wicket always does a bit in the morning. It's normally a good wicket to bat on (after the first session)."
Lara, 36, has scored 10,859 runs at 53.75 in 118 Tests and is only 69 runs short of overtaking Test cricket's second-leading runscorer Steve Waugh (10,927), with another ex-Australian skipper Allan Border (11,174) topping the list.
