Aussie Super 12 pride on the line
Australia's Super 12 sides face crunch time this week as Queensland and NSW do interstate battle while the ACT Brumbies strike an acid test against the unbeaten Blues.
Pride, as well as Wallaby jerseys are on the line for the battered Reds, who will endeavour to crack their first win of the season against traditional foe NSW in Sydney.
Queensland's semi-final aspirations lay in tatters on Friday night after a 62-20 thrashing at the hands of the all-conquering Blues, the worst defeat in the state's history.
The Reds' have now lost their last eight matches in New Zealand, going back to 1999.
Their fourth straight loss this season turned up the pressure on new coach Andrew Slack, however Queensland Rugby Union Jeff Miller on Sunday assured his future.
Miller said Slack, who has signed a three-year deal, needed time to "get up to speed".
"We acknowledged when we first put him on board that it might take him a little bit of time to get up to speed with the modern day game and therefore we are very supportive of what he and rest of the coaching staff are doing," Miller said.
However he questioned some senior players' commitment and said they needed to show more leadership.
Queensland has never lost to NSW in the Super 12 - but Miller said that counted for little on current form ahead of Saturday's Aussie Stadium match.
"That worries me because I don't think that the good record is enough to say that we're going to win the game.
