Griffin keeps faith with baby Broncos
Brisbane coach Anthony Griffin has named the same 17-man squad that lost their NRL season opener against North Queensland for Friday night's away clash with Canberra.
Star centre Justin Hodges took part in some of Tuesday morning's training session but was left out of Grifffin's squad along with front rower Ben Hannant, who also missed the 16-14 loss to the Cowboys.
Seasoned forward Sam Thaiday said he would probably have to carry a groin injury through the season and restrict his training sessions to protect the problem.
The Queensland and Australian representative said he could require surgery if the injury worsened.
Rookies Jack Reed and Dane Gagai have retained their place in the backline after both scored tries on debut in round one.
Griffin has shown faith in his youthful squad, which faces an acid test in Canberra on Friday night where Brisbane have suffered some heavy losses in recent seasons.
"I can't remember the last time we won in Canberra," said Thaiday, who is hoping to put an ordinary performance against the Cowboys behind him.
"I've probably tried a bit too hard and tried to do a bit too much last week."
