Port's Motlop to miss rest of AFL season
Port Adelaide forward Daniel Motlop, who missed a simple shot at goal after the siren which cost his side victory against St Kilda last week, has been ruled out for the rest of the AFL season with a shoulder injury.
Motlop has already had surgery to repair cartilage and reconstruct his left shoulder.
Port said in a statement the decision to have the surgery was made late on Monday.
"Motlop's current performances have been impaired by the injury," the club said.
"Surgery will allow him to be fully recovered in time for the 2007 season.
"Daniel will be ready to join the rest of the squad for pre-season but it is likely he will be on a modified program up until Christmas."
The injury blow comes after Port skipper Warren Tredrea, who was a late withdrawal from the St Kilda game in Launceston, was also told to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines.
The club's medical and coaching staff decided to end his season and get his knee injury fixed.
"But with the knee, it needs a bit of a break and it was either do it now or do it at the end of the season," Tredrea said.
In 12th place with six rounds to go in the home-and-away season, Port is unlikely to make the finals.
