Sydney Kings coach Brian Goorjian celebrated his 600th game in the NBL with an exciting 94-90 victory over the Townsville Crocodiles at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Thursday night.

The Kings led from the opening quarter to secure their ninth win in succession and confirm their place as the league leaders.

The win was Goorjian's 419th career win as a coach in the NBL that started at the Eastside Spectre in Melbourne in 1988.

"I feel honoured that I have been able to survive 600 games," Goorjian said.

"I have always had a lot of respect for the game and have always loved it."

Goorjian's 600th game was watched by 3,201 supporters including Sydney Swans-AFL winning coach Paul Roos, who congratulated Goorjian immediately after the game.

Goorjian is the NBL's most successful coach having won five NBL championships including the past three with the Sydney Kings.

Next best as coach is Lindsay Gaze who has won 339 games.

The Kings started in control leading 31-22 in the first quarter.

That lead was soon eroded to four points at halftime.
