Kings trounce Wildcats 124-91
Sydney's kingpins Jason Smith and CJ Bruton brought an abrupt halt to Perth Wildcat's winning streak with a runaway 124-91 NBL win at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night.
The margin of 33 points equalled the previous best by the Kings over Perth three years ago and the win was their 12th in succession at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
The scoreline, following the 32-point win last weekend over West Sydney, sent a chilling message from the triple champions to the rest of the league.
But Sydney coach Brian Goorjian predicts the team can still get better.
"The match was over early in the third quarter. I expected to be in a battle tonight but we controlled the tempo and our depth has been hard to deal with," Goorjian said.
"The young guys in the side are starting to put it together now and everyone has the ability to shoot the ball."
Goorjian had forecast a tough battle against Perth who had won their last five games including success over league leader Adelaide.
Bruton sank three from three long range shots to give Sydney a 14-5 lead after four minutes and the Wildcats never recovered.
Sydney led 32-21 at quarter-time, extending the lead to 60-45 by halftime and maintained their double figure advantage.
Perth was hustled out of the play, conceding 14 turnovers in the opening half and another 17 in the second session as the Kings produced too much muscle and aggressive defence.
