Allatson appointed chief of NBL Kings
The Sydney Kings have appointed former Athletics Australia boss Simon Allatson as chief executive of the reigning NBL champions.
"We are very pleased to have acquired the services of such an outstanding candidate as Simon Allatson," said John Overs, who had filled both the executive director and CEO positions since taking over the Kings last September.
"Our Board has interviewed a number of applicants over the last few months and we were determined to ensure that the right candidate was appointed to lead the Kings for the coming years.
"After winning three NBL titles, we want a winner at the helm as we expand the Kings franchise."
Allatson, who ran Athletics Australia for five years, also has experience at national executive level in both tennis and swimming.
Allatson met with head coach Brian Goorjian and the Kings team after Saturday's win over the Tigers in Melbourne and will be attending Monday afternoon's blockbuster against the Townsville Crocs at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
He will take up his new post next Monday.
