Australian batsman Simon Katich is in doubt for NSW's ING Cup one-day game against South Australia at Bankstown Oval on Sunday after suffering a fractured finger in Monday's Super Test against the World XI.

Katich was attempting to field a ball before lunch when he suffered what scans later revealed to be soft tissue damage and a "low-grade fracture" of the little finger on his left hand.

The NSW captain may also struggle to be fit for the Pura Cup game against South Australia starting at the SCG on October 25.

The left-handed batsman desperately needs some time at the crease after making 0 and 2 in the Super Test, ahead of the first Test against the West Indies in Brisbane at the Gabba on November 3-7.
