Ioane out for up to six weeks
Queensland Reds winger Digby Ioane could be sidelined for up to six weeks after fracturing a finger in the Super 14 match against the Sharks.
The injury to the ring finger on Ioane's right hand occurred with his first touch of the ball after he had come onto the field as a 53rd minute replacement, in his first game back after serving out a three match suspension for dangerous play.
"We initially thought it was a dislocation but later x-rays showed it was fractured in two places," Reds coach Phil Mooney said.
Scrumhalf Will Genia flew to South Africa last week as a precaution when captain Sam Cordingley went down with a calf injury with Mooney saying Genia would now take Ioane's spot in the tour party.
