Tszyu admits taking caffeine tablets
Kostya Tszyu has become the latest high-profile athlete to admit to using caffeine tablets.
The 35-year-old boxer, who is set to take on British challenger Ricky Hatton in a 2am bout in England next month, said he experimented with various legal supplements as part of his preparation for fights.
"I did take No-Doz, but I'm always experimenting with myself, does it work or doesn't it work," Tszyu said.
"I'm honestly telling you if you are not going to train, no one tablet is going to help you."
Tszyu said he was surrounded by dieticians and other professional advisers to check his supplements were beneficial and legal.
"I always ask my people who are going to give me advice, `can I take it and (will it) give me benefit or side effects, lots of things can be asked," said Tszyu, who was giving his final press conference before heading to England for the Hatton fight.
"If it gives you benefit why not use it, because we are in an extreme (situation). When you are losing three, four, five, six, seven kilos a day, you need some little bit extra vitamin, an extra something, because we are very, very different people.
"That's why I've never taken anything in my life which was against the rules - and I never will - take, because I live this way, I've got kids and I have to give them an example.
"That's why I will never take anything bad or wrong. Other than that, I think everything is acceptable".
