Qualification chances 50-50: Viduka
Middlesbrough sharpshooter Mark Viduka has given the Socceroos a 50-50 chance of qualifying for next year's World Cup in Germany.
The Socceroos striker is confident of beating the Solomon Islands in the Oceania World Cup qualifiers, but says playing off against the fifth-placed South American country for a berth in Germany next year will be a different matter.
"We have a 50-50 chance, like always," Viduka told Channel Ten's Rove Live.
Viduka is happy to be back in Australia for the series against the Solomon Islands in Sydney on Saturday and then in Honiara next week, despite his busy schedule in England.
"Most of us have played together for a long time so it is easy coming back into camp," he said.
"It's enjoyable but coming back to Australia is more difficult because of our commitments overseas.
"We all enjoy coming into camp and we love playing for Australia and coming back home."
Viduka said while new Socceroos coach Guus Hiddink was vital to the World Cup cause, it was up to the players to perform.
"The coach is the leader of the team so he is very important," he said.
"He has to organise the tactics and who is going to play where.
