Sydney FC meet Auckland in opener
Sydney FC will meet New Zealand champions Auckland City in the opening match of the Oceania Club Championship in Tahiti on May 31.
The Oceania Football Federation released the draw for the World Club Championship qualifier event on Tuesday with the winner of the tournament to receive a guaranteed $1.2 million appearance fee at the FIFA World Club championships in Japan.
Following the opening match on March 31, Sydney FC will then take on Papua New Guinea's Sobou FC on April 2, before completing their Group A fixtures two days later with a match against Tahitian side AS Pirae.
The semi-finals will be played on April 7 before the final at the Stade Pater in Pirae on April 10.
Group B will consist of Vanuatu's Tafea, Solomon Islands' Makuru, AS Magenta of New Caledonia and local club AS Manu ura.
Sydney FC qualified for the Oceania tournament following their 1-0 win over Central Coast Mariners in the Australian qualifier-final in Gosford last Sunday.
