Visitors rain on Victorians' parade
AFL grand final week may have been flat for some disappointed Victorians but tens of thousands are still expected at the grand final parade.
For the first time ever the two teams waving to the crowd will be from out of town and, to add insult to injury, even the newly crowned Brownlow medallist Chris Judd is from interstate.
But any lack of enthusiasm from locals should be more than made up for by the hordes of Port Adelaide and Brisbane fans who have begun flooding into the city.
Although slow to get off the ground, excitement about the final is now building in Melbourne, with both teams arriving in town on Thursday night.
The Toyota AFL grand final parade starts at 12.15pm (AEST) today outside the Victorian Arts Centre in St Kilda Road.
The two teams, Judd, AFL rising star Jared Rivers and grand final umpires Brett Allen, Mathew James and Shane McInerney will all be in the grand final parade.
The parade will wend its way to Old Treasury Building on Spring Street where both team captains will hold up the 2004 Premiership Cup.
Many roads in the city centre were expected to be closed from 9.30am until 2.30pm.
