Eels expect Poore back for Tigers clash
Parramatta expect prop Justin Poore to recover from a virus causing him dizziness, in time for next weekend's NRL clash with the Wests Tigers.
Poore was set to play just his second game of the season after a long-term knee injury that had forced the former NSW State of Origin representative to contemplate retirement.
The 26-year-old experienced some dizziness during the Eels' warm-up before Saturday night's 26-20 loss to Manly at Parramatta Stadium, but the condition deteriorated before kick-off.
Eels medical staff sent him to hospital, leaving the team with just 16 players as it was too late to name a replacement.
Parramatta said a virus had been diagnosed and it was expected to clear up in time for next Sunday's Sydney Football Stadium match.
Wingers Jordan Atkins and Etu Uaisele should also return after they were ruled out before kick-off against the Sea Eagles.
The Eels remain second-last on the NRL ladder but coach Stephen Kearney has vowed they will get up for their final three games.
The round 26 clash with 16th placed Gold Coast, who are one point behind Parramatta, could well determine the wooden spooners for 2011.
"We want to land one of those games and we'll keep persevering until we do," Kearney said.
"I don't think that (motivation) will bother the group.
"Apart from (last) Monday night (a 56-6 loss to South Sydney), I thought the attitude of the lads has been really good over the last couple of months.
"I don't expect that to change with three games to go."
