Crows lose Dangerfield for 'Dogs match
Stumbling Adelaide have lost young gun Patrick Dangerfield for Sunday's AFL match against Western Bulldogs.
Dangerfield has a small fracture in his right hand and will be sidelined for Adelaide's home fixture against the Bulldogs.
Key duo Simon Goodwin and Andrew McLeod are also expected to miss the match due to their respective injuries.
Captain Goodwin is battling to overcome an Achilles injury and has not played for two matches, while McLeod was still noticeably limping on Monday after missing the past two games with a knee complaint.
The Crows, who will regain rebounding defender Graham Johncock from suspension, are kicking themselves after woeful goal shooting cruelled their finals bid.
While still mathematically in the race for a top eight berth, the 11th placed Crows have butchered golden victory chances in the past two games.
Adelaide blame an inaccurate second quarter which returned 4.9 against Richmond on Sunday for their ultimate loss to the Tigers.
The previous week, the Crows kicked 1.9 in a costly period in their defeat to Port Adelaide.
Adelaide midfielder Richard Douglas said on Monday some of his teammates had technique problems when kicking for goal.
But Douglas blamed most of the misses on a lack of mental hardness.
"It's just a belief thing ... and having the mental hardness to be able to finish the play," Douglas said.
"It's a matter of producing it when the real heat is on."
Douglas, who conceded a finals spot was "unlikely", said the club should examine hiring a specialist goal kicking coach.
"It's something we probably have to look at in the offseason," he said.
"I am not sure who there is out there but it's certainly worth looking at, because no doubt if you can kick goals and have accuracy over 70 per cent, it's going to go a long way to winning games.
"And it's probably the most important skill in the game so it's probably worth looking at."
