NRL investigating Roosters over Lockyer
The National Rugby League is investigating whether the Sydney Roosters have breached the anti-tampering laws by holding contract discussions with the manager of Brisbane captain Darren Lockyer.
NRL chief executive David Gallop told The Daily Telegraph he would interview player manager George Mimis and Roosters management.
Gallop was reacting to suggestions Mimis had opened negotiations before the June 30 deadline.
Mimis and the Roosters strenuously deny speaking about the Brisbane star who is off contract at the end of the season.
If guilty, the Roosters could be fined up to $100,000.
"Players and agent may negotiate with the clubs's approval so we have asked the Broncos if they want to make a complaint," Gallop told the paper.
