Glory top the table for the third time
Perth Glory waltzed to its third Nation Soccer League premiership courtesy of a comfortable 2-0 victory over Sydney United at Members Equity Stadium.
The result all but finished United's hopes of finishing in the top six with the Brisbane Strikers holding a four-point advantage with two rounds to play.
The win puts the Glory out of reach of championship rival Parramatta for the home and away season title.
United goalkeeper Liam Reddy ensured the match did not become a cakewalk for the home side with several telling saves from wave after wave of Glory attacks.
But goals either side of the break to goal machine Damian Mori and Nick Mrdja secured the Glory the three points against a United outfit lacking a cutting edge up forward.
Mori did not take long to find a good look at goal but scuffed his left foot shot which Reddy saved with relative ease.
Adrian Caceres sent a shot across United's bow four minutes later with a thunderous left foot strike flashing past the right post before Mori made the Sydneysiders pay in the 20th minute.
Jamie Coyne found Mori inside the top of the box and the super striker turned and brought the ball to his feet, faked to hit it, before smashing the ball past Reddy.
United's defence was all at sea just seven minutes later but the keeper this time was able to repel Mori's shot with his legs.
Reddy deflected a fierce shot in the 36th minute from Bobby Despotovski before Coyne sprayed a good chance a minute later for a 1-0 halftime score.
