Moses has Christmas appetite
Kevin Moses remembers what it was like to watch everyone else eat Christmas dinner as he prepared to ride on Boxing Day and now he gets to watch others suffer.
Three times Sydney's premier jockey, Moses is now a successful trainer and will saddle up Institution in Friday's Group Three Summer Cup (2400m) at Randwick with his son Shane to ride.
"It's great to be able to give Shane the ride on Institution because it saves me buying him a Christmas present," Moses said.
"Seriously, he rides him work and knows him well.
"But he better not eat too much Christmas dinner because if he's overweight he won't be riding.
"I remember when I was in the same position and had to have just a small piece of turkey and a lettuce leaf.
"Darren Beadman and his family spent Christmas with us so last year I got to watch what he didn't eat.
"But on the other side he was relaxing doing nothing and I had horses to walk so he did come and help me."
Moses said Institution had done well since his 1-1/2 lengths fifth to Sadarar in the Christmas Cup last Saturday week and was ready to turn the tables.
"He tries very hard and he'll run very well," Moses said.
